New Series featuring Water-Snow-Ice These images are from my first round of captures with very few corrections performed. Some technical concerns such as focus/DOF remain, and look to correct these when my new 70-200 VR arrives later this week.
I would really appreciate any comments especially on style, composition and similar.
Thanks! I am happy to hear you like the direction I am working towards. I really look forward to this project as the more I explore, I am finding myself continually amazed at the complexity and variety of shapes.
Hope fully the lense will be here mid-week, and yes I will share the details!
this is gorgeous! it's my favorite from your recent series. i am so in love with the depth and varience of color. i also love the composition it looks like hands reaching out to grab you, or it almost looks like a dragon to me (with the head of the dragon on the right and a wing curving around to the left).
my only criticism is that the focus isn't as sharp as it could be. it looks gorgeous in the preview, but when you look at the full-view it's a bit murky. other than that, it's stunning and i can't wait to see more!
Thanks for the feedback, I am gald you like where this is heading. This project is lots of fun and looks to be very promising!
I agree on the focus, the shot was taken with camera on a tripod and about two feet from subject, and maybe six inches above the water. The lense I was using that day was not quite up to the task, but I should get my new nikor 70-200 2.8 VR tomorrow and this will be perfect for these shots. Focus is going to be ultra critical for these shots (and great ice conditions) as I have to place the tripod in the river and movement etc will kill it.
Hope all is well in Texas, it looks like you might have a great spring show in the Hill Country!
